Children's Services


The Avoca Public Library offers a variety of services for children.                            

Friday Morning Story Time at 10:00 for 2 & 3 year olds.                                             More than just book fun!!

The library provides a selection of books to In-Home Day Cares.   The books are delivered and picked up by a librarian.

Classes from the Elementary School, Pre-School & Day Cares periodically visit the library for special programming.

Summer Programs include Friday story times and "Read a Book a Week - Get a Prize Each Week".   The theme for the 2014 Summer Reading Program is "FIZZ BOOM READ" and programs will included a visit from Iowa Science Center and Jester Puppets. " Library Lunch" on July Wednesdays from 12:00 - 1:00 is a summer program offered to grades 5th - 9th.  The students have lunch with drinks & dessert provided by the library and discuss books, and have special activities or crafts.

 The library provides children of all ages Board Books, Picture Books, Chapter Books, Popular Book Series, Non-Fiction, Biographies, Holiday, Audios, plus DVDs.

Children will find a great deal "to do" in the library.  For the children's education, enjoyment, and  interacting  with others, the library provides an Early Literacy Game Computer, puppet theater, wooden train table, kitchen set, doll house, puzzles, dress-up box,  Lego blocks & so much more.
